Do horror films give killers ideas?

This question is always in the back of my mind when I see a horror movie. Producers and story writers have to think of some f*cked up stuff these day in order to make money and the ideas are horrendous. Take the saw movies, they are so elaborate but could they give actual psycopaths ideas on how to kill? Also, the Hostel movies...could they inspire people to torture and kill people? These movies scare me only because I think that all this stuff COULD actually happen, and it just seems like these writers are the gateway for it. What are your thoughts on it?
