How can i start to think more creatively?

i always have the urge to paint, draw or write things, but if i ever try to, i cant think of what to do. i cant even doodle in class because i cant think of things to draw. i usually just end up copying something someone else has already done. how can i think of things to draw, paint or write about more easily?
