Need help with my english homework about poems, PLEASE help ?

The nettle bed is a metaphor for the dog-eat-dog world we live in. The parent is doing all he/she can to protect, soothe, and fight for the child, but there will always be someting out there waiting to strike no matter how many enemies are removed/slain/dealt with. This is represented by the new recruits growing back.
